Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Viti mobile app ("Viti", "the app", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using Viti, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

1. The service

Viti is a travel companion app for exploring points of interest in Iceland. It lets you browse points of interest, "tick off" places you visit with a photo, build and share travel lists, earn badges, connect with friends, and appear on a public leaderboard if you choose to.

2. Eligibility & your account

• You must be at least 16 years old to create a Viti account.
• You're responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.
• You must provide accurate information when creating your account.
• One account per person. Don't create an account for someone else without their permission.

3. User-generated content

Viti lets you contribute content, including tick-off photos, travel tips, custom lists, and suggested points of interest. You retain ownership of the content you create. By submitting content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and (where the content is public, such as a public profile's visit history or an approved point of interest suggestion) show that content to other users within the app, for as long as your account or the content exists.

You're solely responsible for the content you submit. You confirm that you have the rights to share it, that it doesn't infringe anyone else's rights, and that it complies with the content standards below.

4. Public profiles & the leaderboard

You can choose to make your profile public, which shows your display name, avatar, badges, visit history, and leaderboard position to other users. This is optional and can be changed at any time in Settings. Points of interest suggested for the app, once approved, may be visible to all users regardless of your profile's visibility.

5. Content standards

When using Viti, you agree not to:

• Post content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or otherwise inappropriate
• Post photos or tips that are misleading, spam, or unrelated to the point of interest
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone
• Submit false or malicious point-of-interest suggestions
• Attempt to abuse, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the app or other users' accounts
• Use the app to harass, stalk, or harm another user

6. Content reporting & moderation

Users can report profiles, visits, tips, or point-of-interest errors that appear to violate these Terms or contain inaccurate information. We review reports and may, at our discretion, remove content, correct point-of-interest data, or suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. We aim to act on reports in good faith but don't guarantee a specific review timeline.

7. Point-of-interest information & travel safety

Viti provides information about points of interest in Iceland, including details like accessibility, road conditions, and whether a location may require a 4x4 vehicle or a river crossing. This information is provided for general guidance only, may be contributed or corrected by users, and may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate. Iceland's terrain and weather can be unpredictable and hazardous. You are solely responsible for your own safety — always check current official road, weather, and safety conditions (e.g. vegagerdin.is, safetravel.is, vedur.is) before traveling, and do not rely on Viti as your sole source of safety information.

8. Intellectual property

The Viti app, its design, branding, badge artwork, and underlying software are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property law. Except for the license you grant us to your own content, nothing in these Terms gives you rights to our intellectual property.

9. Account suspension & termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, misuse the app, or if required by law. You may delete your account at any time — see our Account Deletion page.

10. Disclaimers

Viti is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We don't guarantee the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that point-of-interest information is accurate or complete.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including damages related to travel decisions made based on point-of-interest information in the app. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable EU consumer protection law.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and material changes will be noted in the app. Continued use of Viti after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Belgium and applicable European Union law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If you are an EU consumer, you retain the protections granted to you by the mandatory laws of your country of residence.
